Pu-erh Tea

Pu-erh Tea is a classic fermented dark tea from Yunnan Province, China, crafted from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Made with Pu-erh tea leaves, it undergoes a distinctive post-fermentation and ageing process that develops the earthy smoothness, reddish-brown infusion and rounded depth this traditional Chinese tea is known for.

The cup is smooth, mellow and balanced, with warm notes of wood, earth and gentle sweetness. Its aromatic depth becomes more expressive across multiple infusions, making this standard Pu-erh an approachable choice for those discovering fermented dark tea as well as regular drinkers who enjoy a grounded, earthy cup.

In Chinese tea classification, Pu-erh belongs to the Hei Cha, or dark tea, family. It is sometimes casually called red tea in Western usage because of its reddish-brown liquor, but Pu-erh is its own separate category, defined by fermentation and ageing.Pu-erh has traditionally been enjoyed after meals and is often chosen as part of balanced tea and wellness routines. It is sometimes called "slimming tea"as during fermentation, Pu-erh tea develops compounds such as theabrownins, polyphenols and polysaccharides. These compounds have been studied for their potential links with lipid metabolism, cholesterol levels and body weight.

Pu-Erh how to brew?

Here are several tips for you to get the most from your Pu-erh tea:

Using hot water to pre-warm your cup and utensils for brewing not only clears away any dirt or flavors from previous teas brewed, but it also keeps the tea at an ideal temperature.

Washing or rinsing your tea leaves before brewing can remove any impurities so that you can enjoy the pure authentic flavor of the Pu-erh tea.

Since Pu-erh tea only steeps for a very short period of time, you only need to steep the first cup for about 15 to 20 seconds. Each time you re-brew the leaves, simply add another 15-20 seconds of brewing time for each additional brewing of the leaves.

There are many different types of Pu-erh tea, and each type can be steeped multiple times. The higher grades of Pu-erh tea can be brewed up to ten times, and each time you will gain the health benefits of the Pu-erh tea.

As we all know, Puerh will get a better and more mellow taste after being stored for a long time. However, to store puerh in a proper way is the most important.
